Abstract/Contents: | "Waste generation will increase even if reduce, reuse, and recycle practices are adopted. The seriousness of the growing amounts of waste is magnified by the scarcity of environmentally desirable and economically affordable landfill sites. Development pressure on lands siutable for landfills have driven prices up; and shallow groundwater tables make the cost of installing an environmentally safe landfill expensive. This paper focuses on aerobic composting with special attention to the processing of yard trash which has been shown to range from 10-21 percent of the MSW in four Florida cities." |
