Abstract/Contents:Overviews three experiments involving preemergence herbicides for creeping bentgrass cultivars. States that for the first experiment, eight different herbicides were applied to twelve creeping bentgrass cultivars maintained under putting green conditions. Notes that phytotoxicity was rated weekly for four weeks, and that the only treatment that showed phytotoxic effects was bensulide/oxadiazon. Explains that for the second experiment, eight golf greens were treated with Dimension on one half and Betasan on the other. Reports that "single and split applications provided good-excellent control of crabgrass, goosegrass, and prostrate spurge on all greens." Mentions that the same treatments were applied to a bermudagrass fairway to comprise the third experiment. Concludes that both treatments were effective in controlling crabgrass, and that "significant amounts of goosegrass were observed in all treatments."
