Abstract/Contents:"This evaluation was conducted at the OJ Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility in Verona, WI on a creeping bentgrass fairway maintained at 0.5-in. grown on a native silt loam soil. Individual plots measured 3 ft x 10 ft and were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Individual treatments were applied at a nozzle pressure of 40 psi using a CO2-pressurized boom sprayer equipped with two XR Teejet 8004 VS nozzles. All fungicides were agitated by hand and applied in the equivalent of 2.0 gal water per 1,000 ft2. All treatments were initiated 2 Jun, and subsequent applications were made at 21 or 28 day intervals. Natural infection was allowed to occur. The number of dollar spot infection centers per plot and turf quality were visually assessed weekly from Jun until Sep. Data from 13 Jul, 1 and 25 Aug are presented. Data collected were subjected to an analysis of variance, and means separated using the Waller-Duncan test. Dollar spot was slow to develop in 2011, but by Jul and Aug dollar spot pressure was severe. All treatments suppressed dollar spot at all three rating dates compared to the non-treated control, except for Daconil Ultrex applied on a 21 day interval and both rates of Renown applied at 21 day intervals. Daconil Ultrex is a contact fungicide, and generally would not be expected suppress dollar spot for 21 days. Renown is a mixture of azoxystrobin and chlorothalonil, due to the active ingredients and interval applied Renown would also not be expected to suppress dollar spot. With the exception of Torque and Legend, all other treatments provided similar dollar spot suppression. Turfgrass quality ratings mirrored dollar spot severity, with Emerald and Velista generally providing the best quality throughout the trial. No phytotoxicity was observed with any product."
