Abstract/Contents:"The study was conducted at the Range End Golf Club, Dillsburg, PA, on a perennial ryegrass fairway mowed three times per week at 0.5-in. The experimental turf area was fertilized with 0.5 lb Umaxx (47-0-0) per 1,000 sq ft on 1 Jun. Treatment plots, 3 ft x 6 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. All treatments were applied with a CO2-powered sprayer using a TeeJet 11008E nozzle at 40 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1,000 sq ft. Treatment applications were made on a 14-day interval on 13 and 30 Sept. Disease severity (Index 1-10; 0=plants asymptomatic; 10=>90 % plants symptomatic) was assessed on 13 and 21 Sep, and 3 Oct. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and multiple comparisons of the mean values were made using the Waller-Duncan k-ratio t-test. Gray leaf spot developed in early to mid-September at Range End Golf Club due to heavy rains, warm temperatures, and high relative humidity. The perennial ryegrass showed moderate symptoms of gray leaf spot at the time of the fungicide application, and therefore the fungicides were evaluated for curative control of disease symptoms. A tank-mix of Torque and Legend, the high rate of Civitas, and a tank-mix of Civitas, Actigard, and Daconil Weather Stik provided the best control. Good control was also provided by Heritage, Insignia, and tank-mixes containing Civitas, Actigard, and Daconil Weather Stik in various combinations."
