Abstract/Contents: | Details Luke Cella's experience in a Hazardous Weather Spotter Training class in order to become a trained spotter. Notes that "the class was hosted by Gilbert Sebenste, Meteorologist at Northern Illinois University...and conducted by Jim Allsopp of the National Weather Service." Explains that "the National Weather Service has access to data from Doppler Radar, satellite, and surface weather stations, technology cannot detect every instance of hazardous weather. Spotters help fill in the gaps." Overviews the potential benefits of becoming a trained spotter, as well as weather patterns that they are asked to report. |
