Abstract/Contents:Thirty years ago the superintendent's life was nice and simple but today he is, purely and simply, a professional. He has most likely, graduated from college with a degree in landscape architecture or agronomy. He knows of the science of turf, chemicals used on it, surface conditions, and he knows how to budget it all. He is a manager too. He has to know what to do in emergency situations also.
