| Abstract/Contents: | Stresses the potential importance of staff training for specific skills or duties in turf maintenance, citing Canada's provincial Criminal Code Section 2.17.1; "everyone who undertakes, or has the authority to direct how another person does work or performs a task is under a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent bodily harm to that person, or any other person, arising from that work or task." Defines due diligence in terms of occupational health and safety as employers taking all reasonable precautions under the particular circumstances to prevent injuries or accidents in the workplace. States that "chainsaw certification, sprayers, pesticide applicator licensing, health and safety-training for all of these and more can and probably should be obtained through both private and governmental avenues." Concludes that "properly trained employees are more efficient, take pride in their work, require less supervision, mow straighter lines, are easier on equipment, and can often tell you when something is wrong with a machine." |
