| Abstract/Contents: | Overviews the weather patterns around the Lansing, Michigan area during the summer of 2012. Mentions unirrigated turfgrass entering dormancy due to record high temperatures and a water deficit caused by a 19 percent water loss through evapotranspiration. States that "for unirrigated, dormant turf, the concern has become whether or not the turf could have died or whether it will recover sufficiently in fall 2012." Mentions that "for Kentucky bluegrass lawns, there is usually no danger that the lawn is going to die unless water is lacking for 6-8 weeks." Discusses unirrigated plots at the Hancock Turfgrass Research Center in East Lansing which had species that "[responded to the] summer differently with some possibly requiring reestablishment and others that didn't appear to have any damage at all." |
