| Abstract/Contents: | "This project aims to regulate the sampling methods of seed mixtures and particularly those for gramineae. ISTA has proposed to include these sampling regulations into the ISA regulations. Different methods to partition samples and the Nobbe sampling rake were tested regarding their accuracy and their consistency. Thanks the results obtained with these different sampling partition methods it was already possible to recommend regulations instruments for these methods. None of the methods tested was equally good for all the mixtures. The Riffel divisor and the rotation sampling divisor showed minor problems. The utilization of a stand for the sampling rake stood the test in our project. When using it, it becomes very easy to take samples. But all the Nobbe sampling rakes were not able to meet our requirements when the samplings were made at random. Further tests suggest, however, that a disturbance due to the tests can affect the sampling. It is still possible to obtain a decrease in the number of described differences. The results of further tests with other rakes and a sampling by hand reveal whether the sampling methods for seed mixtures are actually available. In the other case it would be necessary to integrate the dispersions resulting from sampling with a rake into the appropriate lists of tolerance. At the end a new regulation for sampling methods for mixtures will be issued in a protocol, which will be then validated in an international study." |
