Abstract/Contents:"It becomes more and more popular to plant vegetation on the tracks. The population appreciates this particularly when it is welldone because it enhances the aspect of the city optically. Furthermore, green tracks have environmental advantages, among other regulating the water and heat balances and they are too fixing dust and noxious gases. They also help reduce the noise at track crossings. Different systems of vegetation along the tracks, chiefly with sedum or rasengleise, depend on the construction system used to build the tramway tracks. And the greening success depends on the methods of construction, the substrates, the choice of the plants and their fostering. It became so apparent that engineering and public transportation services were missing clear appropriate directives to build the tracks and how to take care of the vegetation along the tracks. During the symposium Green Track of the Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Urbanisation (IASP) at the Geographic Institute of the Humbold University in Berlin more than 60 participants, all engineers and researchers with practical experiences, came together during the trade fair Inno- Trans 2010 to discuss the newest developments, groundworks and results from researches as well as from experiences regarding the different vegetation systems. All the contributions are published in the Berliner Geographischen Arbeiten 116. The participants are able to download the presentations."
