Abstract/Contents:Reports that "sustainable events offer advantages for all involved: facilities, sponsors, participants and the public." Notes that "when golf facilities promote ecologically responsible practices at tournaments, the paybacks are positive public relations, increased savings, attendee and vendor education, and involvement in the conservation of precious natural resources." Lists the benefits of adhering to environmental stewardship practices. Details the purpose of the Green Sports Alliance. Discusses the importance of being environmentally friendly and what steps need to be taken in order to do so, including identifying attainable goals. Suggests that "sustainability is a team effort, and all managers and staff must be committed to the environmental goals for event strategies to be effective."
