| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a question posed by Cliff Wagoner to Dr. Victor A. Gibeault, Environmental Horticulturalist at the University of California, Riverside. Asks "is there research that substantiates night watering actually causes more disease than early morning watering?" Explains that "excess moisture on the leaf surface, which is necessary for the development of certain diseases, is removed by morning solar radiation and increased daytime temperatures." Mentions that "early morning irrigation also washes off disease promoting dew guttation." States that "disease potential was greater with night irrigation but whether incidence occurred would be dependent on the overall vigor of the turf in question." |
