Suggests that there is a challenge for superintendents to balance maintaining healthy turf and meeting the often unreasonably high expectations of club members. Highlights difficulty in attracting seasonal staff members, and advises that since golf courses often cannot offer highly competitive salaries due to budget restraints, special attention should be given to the unique perks of working on a course, such as golfing privileges and the opportunity to work outdoors. States that the initial process of furthering a superintendent's knowledge can potentially be stressful, but that the benefits of knowledge generally outweigh these downsides. |
