| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses preparations of soccer fields in different locations around London to be used as training areas for the 2012 London Olympics. Explains that "potential sites had already been identified by LOCOG [London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games] based principally on their proximity to the match venues, but it was up to STRI [Sports Turf Research Institute] to work out how to develop pitches at each site in order to provide the consistent playing conditions required of the tournament." Explains that each site was individually assessed and that each had its own development plan put into place. Addresses difficulties in dealing with continued rainfall during the preparations prior to the Olympics. |
