Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the potential importance of bunker maintenance on golf courses. States that sand within bunkers should remain smooth and loose throughout, and that without proper maintenance, bunkers can become "an unfair menace [to golfers] if not properly maintained." Suggests that sand used in bunkers should be free of lime, since lime creates alkalinity in turf, which could cause "lush grass growth, the establishment of weeds, and the activities of worms." Explains that bunkers should be constructed to drain efficiently so that they do not become a collecting point for water. |
