| Abstract/Contents: | Overviews methods of fertilization and states that it is a potentially important asset of turfgrass maintenance. Notes that the treatments must be fashioned according to the conditions of the turf. Advises that when golf course superintendents create their fertilizer programs, applying a good balance between nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers will produce the best results. Mentions that golf courses have "a wide range of turf conditions" from the greens, tee, fairways, the rough, and other areas around the course. Suggests that "much of the value of a good greenkeeper lies in the skill and judgement he exercises in timing his fertilizer application in relation to the state of the turf, to the weather and to known requirements in the way of competitions." |
