| Abstract/Contents: | Studies are reported on turf grasses, relating the proportion of species and cvs in the seed mixture to the eventual composition of the turf. The deciding factor was shown to be the number of viable seeds per unit area of each sp. and cv. and not the individual amounts of seed in the mixture. Seed viability and size data are tabulated for a wide range of grasses. For the accurate determination of the contents of noxious and undesirable grasses and weed species a 10-50 g sample of seed needs to be examined. |
