Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicide treatments were evaluated on a Poa golf green nursery at Duluth, Minnesota where gray snow mold occurs naturally most winters. Treatments were applied 10 Nov 1989 to 4 x 12 ft. plots in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Fungicides were applied in the equivalent of 4 gal water per 1,000 sq ft at 30 PSI using a CO2 powered sprayer equipped with 2 8004 Tjet nozzles. The granules were applied with a shaker spreader. Snow cover was intermittent and late. Very cold dry conditions in the fall and early winter produced injured turf before the Jan through Mar snow cover allowed snow molds to develop. Effective control was achieved by Caloclor, Terraneb SP, PCNB and CGA 455 59WP. Disease damage in this test was less than 50% of typical disease damage in previous years. Products with 10% or more damage are judged to be unacceptable." |
