Abstract/Contents: | There is plenty of work to be done in the winter months. The winter months are a good time of year for bunker work, tree trimming, pump station work, equipment repair and education. The winter months are a good time to replentish or replace bunker sand. The frozen ground minimizes damage by heavy equipment. The new sand will settle during the winter. "Trees are dormant during the winter, which makes this an excellent time to prune many varieties." The best time to prune is in late winter, when you have the itch to get outdoors. Winter is a good time to do pump station work. Plumbing and electrical work can be done in the dead of winter. Many educational opportunities are available during the winter. These include the Cooperative Extension Service, and turfgrass conventions and shows. |
