Abstract/Contents:Discusses some things to do, and not to do, before using your spraying or spreading equipment. Things to do include: 1) check sprayers before every application; 2) calibrate each nozzle individually; 3) change worn or damaged tips immediately; 4) calibrate equipment throughout the season; 5) check the label to determine recommended application rate; 6) adjust for differences in flow rate when spraying solutions with different densities than water; Don'ts include: 1) don't think of calibration as a once a year task; 2) don't try to calibrate your nozzles by blindly raising or lowering; 3) don't assume pressure at the nozzle is the same as the pressure at the gauge.
