| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated on two adjacent bentgrass greens at Veenker Golf Course, Iowa State University, IA. The greens were maintained 5/32 in cutting height and received conventional care. Fungicides were applied to 4 ft x 5 ft plots using a modified bicycle sprayer at 30 psi and a dilution rate of 5 gal/1000 sq ft. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replications. Treated plots were alternated with untreated plots to minimize interplot interference. Treatments were first applied on 6 Jun, and continued on 20 and 27 Jun and 5 and 18 Jul, depending uon the application interval specified. The percentage of turf with brown patch symptoms was rated on 28 Jun and 5,20, and 31 Jul. Brown patch development on 28 Jun was light and sporadic. On all other rating dates, disease development on untreated plots was severe. Rainfall during Jun and Jul was unusually heavy. Almost all treatments suppressed brown patch significantly better than the untreated check. Exceptions included Rubigan at 1.5 oz on 28 Jun and ASC-66900 at 4.0 oz on 20 Jul. Cyproconazole at 0.33 oz resulted in enhanced green color of plots. SN 84365 at 2.0 oz plus Cyproconazole at 0.17 oz caused moderately severe browning and thinning of plots." |
