Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were applied prior to any brown patch activity to a bentgrass turf maintained at putting green height. Soil was a loamy sand with a pH of 6.6 and 4.4% OM. Treatments were applied on either a 14 or 28 day interval on the dates footnoted in the data table. Fungicides were sprayed with a CO2 pressurized (36 psi) sprayer in a 2.5 gal water per 1000 ft2. Plots were 5 by 5 ft, and were arranged as a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area blighted was determined visually on a 0 to 100% scale. Ratings that exceed 2.0% plot area blighted would be considered unacceptable brown patch control for putting green turf. Brown patch blighting began in early Jul, and disease pressure was severe by mid-Jul. All plots were treated on 2 Jul and it was evident by 9 and 16 Jul that the low and high rates of ASC 66811, respectively were not going to effectively control brown patch. Systhane applied since 2 May on the 14-day interval provided commercially acceptable control throughout the test. However, the same rate of Systane applied on a 28 day interval was not providing acceptable control as early as 9 Jul. Daconil 4F + ASC 66811 treatments were last applied on 2 Jul, and their residual effectiveness had begun to dissipate by 23 Jul. All three formulations of Daconil (applied on 14 day intervals) as well as ProStar + Bayleton and SN 84364 (applied on 28 day intervals) provided excellent brown patch control throughout the test period."
