| Abstract/Contents: | Details the position of the sports field manager and what tasks and problems the manager faces on a daily basis. Notes that the sports field manager and his crew "compete with other departments within our organization for money, resources, positions, recognition, programs, and approvals." Suggests that in order to understand the position of the the sports turf manager, in particular the "politics," knowing the stakeholders' agenda is a must. Discusses the stakeholders concerned with the sports turf managers, including coaches, athletic directors, owners, administrative assistants, accountants, parents of the players, league sports committees, vendors and suppliers, families, the public, and nature. Emphasizes the importance of mutual respect and communication between the managers and the stakeholders. |
