| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were applied initially after the first appearance of some minor dollar spot blighting to bentgrass maintained at putting green height. Soil was a loamy sand with a pH of 6.6 and 4.4% OM. Treatments were applied on either a 14 or 28 day interval on the dates footnoted in the data table. Fungicides were applied with a CO2 pressurized (36 psi) sprayer in 2.5 gal water per 1000 ft2. Plots were 5 by 5 ft, and were arranged as a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area blighted was determined visually on a 0 to 100% scale. Ratings that exceed 0.5% plot area blighted would be considered unacceptable control for putting green turf. Although dollar spot was evident on 2 May disease pressure remained very light throughout May, light to moderate in Jun, and moderate to severe in Jul. Except for Systhane applied on the 28 day interval (i.e. applied 2 and 30 May and 2 Jul) and Daconil + ASC 66811 (6.0 + 1.5 fl oz) on 2 Jul, all treatments provided commercially acceptable dollar spot control throughout the test period. Systhane required application on a 14 day interval to provide consistent, acceptable control at the 0.5 fl oz rate evaluated. Data showed that all formulations of Daconil and Daconil 4F + ASC 66811 provided excellent, preventative control of black algae when plots were rated on 16 Jul." |
