| Abstract/Contents: | "This study was conducted at the University of Maryland Turfgrass Research Facility on a creeping bentgrass turf maintained at 0.25 inches in height. Fungicides were applied initially before foliar blighting was observed on either 14, 21 or 28 day intervals on those dates footnoted in the data table. Fungicides were applied with a CO2 pressurized (36 psi) sprayer in 2.5 gal water per 1000 ft2. Rain (0.33 in.) occurred 3.5 hrs after the 19 Jun application, but no rain occurred within 24 hrs of any other spray date. Soil was a loamy sand with a pH of 7.0 and 3.1% OM. Plots were 5 by 5 ft, and were arranged as a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area affected by a disease or algae was determined visually on a 0 to 100% scale. Treatments with ratings that exceed 0.5% plot area injured by dollar spot would be considered unacceptable control for a golf course green. Weather in May was cold and wet, and no disease developed. Dollar spot became active on 5 Jun, but disease pressure continued to be light throughout the test. All fungicide treatments and rates provided acceptable control of dollar spot. Data collected 16 Jul indicated that MON 18833 treatments applied on the 28 day interval had encouraged the growth of superficial fairy rings; whereas, SAN 619 and Banner had encouraged algae growth." |
