| Abstract/Contents: | "This evaluation was conducted at the Landscape Management Research Center, University Park, PA, on a mixed stand of Apache, Bonanza, Cimarron, and Olympic tall fescue, maintained under home lawn management conditions. The test area was fertilized on 7 and 23 May and 6 Jun with 0.5 lb actual N (urea 46-0-0) per 1000 sq ft. Individual plots, 3 ft x 15 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments were applied with a CO2-powered boom sprayer, using T-jet 8004 nozzles, at 30 psi, in water equivalent to 2 gal per 1000 sq ft. Granular formulations were hand-scattered from a shaker-top jar. Applications were made on 13 and 26 Jun, and 10 and 24 Jul, except as noted in the table. Two episodes of brown patch occurred in the test area, one in mid July and the second in early August. Brown patch severity was visually evaluated on 16 Jul and 9 Aug. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Waller-Duncan K-ratio t test. The majority of the chemicals tested provided excellent suppression of brown patch throughout both outbreaks of the disease." |
