| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the restoration process at Rungsted Golf Course in Denmark by Ian Tomlinson. Explains that the course was encountering many issues, including a thick layer of thatch underneath the greens, poor soils and drainage, too many trees on the course, and poor maintenance practices that were being used. States that Tomlinson decided to repair the greens through verticutting, hollow-core tining, and applications of bent and fescue seed. Notes that the repairs were very disruptive to play on the course for a period of time, but the maintenance led to great improvement. Provides charts of levels of applied nitrogen, thatch depth, and sward balance on years before, during, and after the renovations. |
