Abstract/Contents: | "Students are required to earn 65 credits in approximately 25 individual classes to achieve their A.S. Degree in Turfgrass Management at the College of Desert. Included are five turf classes designed to prepare students for a career in golf course management within the desert environment. One class requires each student to spend seven and one-half weeks of on-the-job training on local golf course. Other class requirements included in the curriculum are: landscaping irrigation systems, horticulture, soils & plant nutrition, agricultural chemical applications & safety, Spanish, English, and math. The Turfgrass Management Program at COD is the only program funded entirely from contributions received form the golf industry and through the annual Turfgrass Equipment & Supplies Field Day." |
