Abstract/Contents:"To obtain the insights of the expression profile of zoysiagrass, we analyzed 1,618 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) derived from a zoysiagrass cDNA library. Cluster analysis identified 103 contigs (9.78%) and 951 (90.22%) singletons, yielding a total of 1,054 unique genes. Among these unique genes, 927 (88%) clones showed significant similarity to the known genes whereas the remaining 127 clones were novel. Assignment of the annotated genes using gene ontology indicated that most of the transcripts were related to metabolic processes, cellular biosynthetic processes, and transport. This is the first EST-based analysis of zoysiagrass."
