Abstract/Contents: | "Being an assistant with a family is always a tough situation. To get a top positon in turf grass industry would include an education and experience. No employer would want to hire a superintendent or assistant whose personality is that of some sort of social misfit. If we all expect to be paid the salaries that we desire, then we need to start to appear as the professional we are. Acting as professionals would include many things that many of us currently take part in such as: attendance at monthly and yearly meetings; frequent rounds of golf at our own club and occasional rounds at other clubs; communicating as much as possible with members or others while at our courses; good working relations with our course golf pro; and an open-door policy to other superintendents as well as members. |
