Abstract/Contents:"Students of turfgrass management and other horticultural sciences have a wealth of opportunities for receiving dollars and/or training through a number of programs. A few are included here. GCSAA Legacy Awards are given to academically talented children and grandchildren of GCSAA members. The awards are based on academic ability, community involvement and an essay. Awards amounts range up to $5,000 depending on need. Another award is the Golf Course Management Turfgrass Essay. The essay contest was created to foster awareness of environmental responsibilities among future golf course superintendents, and to raise public awareness of the role of the superintendent and the golf/turf industry in preserving and enhancing the land. The Professional Grounds Maintenance Scholarships is open to all students involved in areas of landscape and grounds maintenance, turf management, irrigation technology, and othher closely related fields. The Professional Plant Growers Scholarship Foundation give out most awards to students of floriculture and awards several thousand dollars worth of scholarships each year, including one for horticulture majors with a business/marketing emphasis. The Los Angeles Arboretum is accepting applications for its 1991 summer internship program. Students who are majoring in horticulture or related fields are encouraged to apply for the 15 to 20 positions open.
