Abstract/Contents:"Summary: When applying MSMA at the recommended rate, spray volume has only a slight effect on phytotoxicity of the chemical to common bermudagrass. According to the results of this study, spray volume differences of 20 to 100 gallons per acre did not significantly affect control of grassy weeds. Two applications of MSMA spaced 2 weeks apart were necessary to achive complete control of grassy weeds in this study. The adjuvant, Ferromec AC, did decrease phytotoxic effects on common bermudagrass; however, in this study, the addition of Ferromec AC also significantly decreased the degree of control on grassy weeds. Consideration should be given to revising MSMA product labels to allow the applicator the option of using a spray volume of 20 to 100 gallons per acre. Many applicators presently applying MSMA at less than label recommended spray volumes could then legally apply this herbicide under label guidelines."
