| Abstract/Contents: | "This test was conducted to examine the efficacy of several preemergence herbicides in controlling smooth and large crabgrass, and goosegrass. The test area was seeded in 1988 and treated in 1989. Herbicides were applied on April 12, 1989 and irrigated in. The treatments were Dimension (at 0.125,0.25,0.75,1.5 and 3.0 lb/A), Gallery at 0.75 alone and with Team at 2 lb/A, Ronstar 50WP at 1 and 1.5 lb/A, pendimethalin at 1.5 and 3 lb/A, and Barricade at 0.5 and 0.75 lb/A. Dimension provided good control of all three species at 0.25 lb/A, but full season control was attained only at the 0.75 lb/A rate. Gallery provided poor control of grasses. Team did not provide full season control. The addition of Gallery to Team did not improve control. Prodiamine and pendimethalin were poor on goosegrass. Mid-season control of crabgrass was adequate but full season control was poor. The 1.5 lb/A rate of Ronstar WP provided full season control of all three species." |
