Abstract/Contents:"The aim of SM14 was to provide a thorough insight on contemporary technologies for establishing and managing turfgrasses in an environmentally conscious way focusing on integrated and biological turf management, minimization of water demands and protection of the environment with the use of turfgrasses. In addition the international turfgrass community was acquainted with the turfgrass culture of Portugal with its many facilities and turfgrass management activities that include soccer fields, golf courses, lawn bowling courses, hippodromes, as well as famous parks and gardens. On the other hand, local turfgrass scientists and managers benefitted from the presence of international scientists who attended this session, in an effort to improve turfgrass culture in the southern part of Europe that is characterized by peculiar and challenging climatic conditions."
