Abstract/Contents:"Municipal reclaimed water is a viable alternative source of irrigation for turf-grasses in arid and semi-arid regions and in highly populated areas, where water is fast becoming a limited natural resource. Higher level sewage water treatment and improved reclaimed water chemical quality create this option. Increasingly, reclaimed water is used to irrigate parks, roadsides, landscapes, golf courses, cemeteries, and athletic fields. Although, ultimately, reclaimed water use is dictated by local policies, irrigating turfgrass landscapes with reclaimed water should be considered where domestic water is scarce or expensive. Factors affecting the decision to use reclaimed water for turfgrass irrigation include human health, environmental impact, and reclaimed waters dissolved salts."
