Abstract/Contents: | Examines the growing trend in the golf course industry that has golf course development taking place in countries that typically would not be associated with golfing. Suggests that "the importance of the global resource extraction industry in driving development, the increasing influence of finance from previously unthought of parts of the world, and the spread of golf from hotbeds of the game into neighbouring countries" as reasons for development in non-typical markets. Profiles the development in Nicaragua and Nigeria. Notes the issues that developments in both countries faced. Notes large scale developments are coming from Middle Eastern money as well, especially in north and far east Africa, to build courses in Africa. |
