Abstract/Contents: | Argues that greens on "classic" golf courses should be preserved as much as possible, and changed only when problems make it absolutely necessary. States that "classic greens with bold character are a vital part of golf's heritage and key to the game's interest and attractiveness." Notes that many green restorations on historic courses lead to greens that contrast greatly with the spirit and design of the courses as a whole. Explains that a course is completely unable to preserve a classic green, that it should be mapped three dimensionally so that it can be recreated in the same or a new location. |
