Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the importance of selecting the proper grass seed for a newly constructed golf course. States that Barenbrug and the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) conducted a trial in Bingley, England, and Wicklow, Scotland, in order to determine the most effective choice of seed for golf course greens. Explains that "seed treatments were maintained under 'standard input' and 'low input' maintenance regimes and were also subjected to wear simulation after establishment." Notes that the study also "served to illustrate the negative aspects of other grass species used on golf greens in the UK and Ireland. |
