Abstract/Contents:Compares remnant vegetation found on golf courses to that found in nearby patches in urban landscaping due to the fact that there is a lack of knowledge in this area; studies found that they have distinctly different compositions. Explains that the study conducts surveys on patches of remnant vegetation patches in nine golf courses and nine nearby nature reserves containing similar vegetation; small plots were established in each sector and each plant was recorded. Compared the patches on the golf courses to those in the nature reserves and found that they had distinctly different compositions. States the findings from the study. Provides important information regarding each of the site histories. Concludes that there is definite possibility that "golf courses can play a greater role in the conservation of vegetation communities that are under pressure from continued urbanisation, urban expansion and agricultural intensification around our cities."
