| Abstract/Contents: | Details the Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Act which was legislated by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) banning the use of Class Nine pesticides for cosmetic purposes. Explains the law could have devastated superintendents had it not been for the lobbying effort initiated that exempted golf courses from adhering to the legislation. States that since 2010, golf courses have had to submit annual report to the MOE documenting pesticide usage as well as post report around clubhouse. Describes annual public meetings for residents near courses that are required to be put on by golf courses documenting pesticide usage as well. Notes attendance to meetings is minimal and opposition to their usefulness is growing. |
