Abstract/Contents:"This evaluation was conducted at the OJ Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility in Madison, WI on a creeping bentgrass putting green maintained at 0.140-in. and grown on a 70:30 sand-soil rootzone. Individual plots measured 3 ft x 5 ft and were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Individual treatments were applied at a nozzle pressure of 40 psi using a CO2-pressurized boom sprayer equipped with two XR Teejet AI8004 VS nozzles. All fungicides were agitated by hand and applied in the equivalent of 2.0 gal water per 1,000 ft2. All treatments were initiated 16 May, and subsequent applications were made at 14 or 21 day intervals. The number of dollar spot infection centers per plot and turf quality were assessed weekly from Jun until Sep. Data from 25 Jul, 8 Aug, and 21 Aug are presented here. Data collected were subjected to an analysis of variance and means separated using the Waller-Duncan test. Non-treated controls averaged over 400 spots per plot in early August. Despite this high disease pressure, all treatments reduced dollar spot relative to the non-treated control on each rating date, except Daconil Action + Chipco Signature on 25 Jul. Emerald was the only fungicide to completely suppress dollar spot for the entire study. Other products providing excellent dollar spot suppression were Banner MAXX II, Velista, Encartis, and the combination of Torque + Spectro + 26/36. Turf quality mirrored disease severity ratings, and phytotoxicity was not observed with any product."
