| Abstract/Contents: | Turves for sports fields were prepared with various grass seed mixtures. After lifting and laying the botanical composition of the swards was monitored for 3-4 years. Swards containing Phleum bertolonii required more irrigating after laying than swards without this grass and were not resistant to wear unless they were used as soon as possible. The lifting and laying of turves did not affect the proportion of Cynosurus cristatus, Festuca rubra or Lolium perenne. C. cristatus and F. rubra did not wear well and were absent from swards after about a year to 18 months. |
