| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses how golf course superintendents are going about maintaining their courses in an environmentally sensitive manner to satisfy golfer's expectations. Explains that even though chemical treatments are scrutinized by golfers, "we couldn't maintain the expectations of the community unless we had these inputs available...chemicals and fertilizers are very important in what we do annually." States that when using these treatments, "safety for crew members, golfers, and wildlife is always a top priority...It is always very important to institute a well-balanced and well-thought-out fertilizer/herbicide/fungicide program to meet the individual needs of each and every golf course." Notes the personal responsibility each individual has when handling potentially hazardous products, and addresses the factors behind using organic versus chemical products. |
