Abstract/Contents:States that "throughout Australia almost all synthetic golf greens installed will suffer from compaction of infill sand, in effect rendering the playing surface virtually unplayable after a period of time," resulting in a potential termination of synthetic golf greens. Profiles an infill product called "frac" sand that can potentially reverse these problems. Explains that frac is a quartz-based sand that has "high resistance to compaction, significant moisture repellent characteristics and inhibiting of fungal, bacterial, and mildew growth." Notes that results obtained from using this product during synthetic green installation have been astonishing and that it has withstood the test of time by not wearing or compacting.
