| Abstract/Contents: | Roots of 2 cvs each of Festuca rubra, Poa pratensis and Lolium perenne were sampled at monthly intervals from 4 soil layers to a total depth of 20 cm. The amount of roots continued to increase in all 4 soil layers throughout the experiment. Relatively large amounts of root were present in May to July and small amounts in mid-winter. F. rubra cv. Rasengold and P. pratensis cv. Fylking had more roots in the 2 upper soil layers (down to 10 cm) than the respective cvs Oasis and Campus. The 2 L. perenne cvs, NFG and Dolewi, had similar amounts of roots. |
