| Abstract/Contents: | "A review of research in the southeastern United States related to the evaluation of forage and turf grass germplasm for resistance to insect and mite pests is presented. Resistance to insect and mite pests has been found in genotypes of bermudagrass (Cynodon spp.), centipedegrass (Eremochloa ophiuroides [Munro] Hack.), St. Augustinegrass (Stenotaphrum secundatum [Walt.] Kuntze), and zoysiagrass (Zoysia spp.). Factors (i.e., fertilization, cultural condition, insect strain, dietary conditioning, assay methods) that influence the screening of germplasm for resistance to insects are discussed." |
