| Abstract/Contents: | "A study was conducted to evaluate preemergence broadleaf weed control resulting from isoxaben applications. The study was conducted on a mixed cool season turf at the Landscape Management Research Center, University Park, PA. To remove the broadleaf weeds already present the study site was treated with 2,4-D, MCPP, and dicamba at 1.0, 0.5, and 0.1 lbs ai/A, respectively. Treatments were applied on November 9, 1989, with a hand-held, CO2 powered boom delivering 113 gal/a. A repeat application was made April 25, 1990. Treatments of isoxaben in both the spring (4/23/90) and fall (11/9/89) provided the best control of dandelion and mouse-ear chickweed. Single applications, either in the spring or fall, did not provide adequate control of either weed. Populations of white clover and thymeleaf speedwell were not large enough to provide good control data. Although it was observed that isoxaben has preemergence activity on both weeds." |
