Abstract/Contents:"Aminocyclopyrachlor (DPX-KJM44) is a new active ingredient under development by DuPont for selective weed control in turf, among other use sites. DPX-KJM44 is a systemic herbicide which is absorbed by leaves and roots. DPX-KJM44 offers foliar and residual control of perennial and annual weeds. Field experiments were initiated to evaluate DPX-KJM44 (25 - 108 g ai/ha) for postemergent control of select broadleaf weed species including Virginia buttonweed (Diodia virginiana), common lespedeza (Kummerowia striata), henbit (Lamium amplexicaule), buckhorn plantain (Plantago lanceolata), and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). These data indicate a single DPX-KJM44 application (50 g ai/ha) may provide excellent control of Virginia buttonweed, annual lespedeza, and dandelion. Additionally, DPX-KJM44 provided excellent buckhorn plantain and henbit control although increased rates (75 g ai/ha) were required. These data indicate DPX-KJM44 may offer excellent control of several common or troublesome broadleaf weed species in turf."
