Abstract/Contents:"Celsius is the trade name for a new 3-way post emergent herbicide for control of broadleaf weeds and some grasses in warm season turf. The herbicide is composed of thiencarbazone-methyl/iodosulfuron/dicamba sodium salt in the ratio of 30/6.7/186 and is formulated as a WG. Thiencarbazone methyl and iodosufuron are ALS inhibitors and dicamba sodium salt is a growth regulator. Warm season turf including St. Augustinegrass, bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and centipedegrass are tolerant to Celsius. Bahiagrass and seashore paspalum show marginal tolerance. Cool season grasses are not tolerant to Celsius. Celsius controls a number of broadleaf weeds and grasses including chickweed, dollarweed, dandelion, Facelis sp., white clover, Virginia buttonweed, corn speedwell, chamberbitter, spotted spurge, swinecress, annual sowthistle, California burclover, curly dock, oxalis, hop clover, rabbit clover, purslane, bull paspalum, broadleaf signalgrass, barnyard grass, ragweed, foxtail, johnsongrass, quackgrass, large crabgrass, and Texas panicum. Celsius does not control smooth crabgrass, blanket crabgrass, or annual bluegrass. Celsius has significant benefits to the customer, demonstrating excellent turf safety and broad spectrum efficacy that is equal or better than current standards. Overall use rates are significantly lower than other 3-way standards. In the Florida turf market, the development of Celsius is an important advancement due to the season-long tolerance of St. Augustinegrass to the product. Celsius also shows potential as an atrazine replacement in turf."
