Abstract/Contents:Each year 20, 30, 40 or 50 g N/m2 was applied as 4 equal dressings to a grass sward, consisting of 30% Lolium perenne, cv. Majestic, 35% Poa pratensis, cv. Kimono, and 35% P. pratensis, cv. Pac. The growth of turf receiving studded roller wear declined compared with that of unworn turf with increasing amounts of N. Sufficiently large and early fertilizer applications in spring helped recovery after winter wear. High N applications in autumn encouraged Fusarium nivale [Micronectriella nivalis] attack. The higher fertilizer rates increased the total N content of the turf root zone.
